The following links are to websites with information regarding Project Based Learning (PBL) opportunities as well as other resources for teachers to use in the classroom. This list is not an all inclusive list.
Connect All Schools – Initiative of iEARN with the goal of connect all schools in the United States to another in the world by 2016. The website offers a platform for schools to share their stories and projects.
Creative Connections – Create and facilitate arts based exchanges between classrooms in the U.S. and with their peers around the globe.
Edmodo – Secure website with similar setup as Facebook, that allows teachers to invite students and parents into a group, enabling students to interact with one another and even those from outside the classroom.
Edutopia - A component of the George Lucas Educational Foundation, that shares project based learning and evidenced based learning strategies to educators, and allows for educators to connect.
ePals – Provides educational technology and resources for classrooms to connect in a safe environment.
Flat Classroom Project – Collaborative project that joins together middle and high school students, using Web 2.0 tools.
Globalization 101 - Intends to guide students' understanding of globalization and the issues surrounding it. Site provides lesson plans and reading articles for teachers to use in the classrooms.
Global Nomads Group - Has educational programs, including video conferencing and videos for learning content on a variety of international issues relevant to both teachers and students.. Programs are broadcast during the school day and cover a variety of curriculum topics
Global School Net – e-learning projects for educators and students to foster 21st century competences.
Global Virtual Classroom - A collection of free, online educational activities and resources. It aims to complement the efforts of governments and educators around the world to integrate technology into their classrooms and curricula and to link their schools to the Internet in educationally productive ways.
Global Voices Online - Provides links to literature and people from countries across the globe. Site is searchable by country or topic.
iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) - Enables teachers and youth to use the internet and other technologies to collaborate on projects that enhance learning and make a difference in the world.
National Geographic Education – Provides project based learning lesson plans for all age groups and curricular areas.
Newseum - The Newseum provides access to the front pages of newspapers across the United States and around the world. They also have lesson plans and professional development opportunities.
One World Youth Project - Pairs secondary and post-secondary students around the world to complete project based learning experience in their community.
Outreach World - Is a network of dedicated teachers whose goal is to populate Outreach World with educational materials relevant to all global regions, grade levels, themes and disciplines; recommended resources; a calendar
of events and professional development opportunities; links to organizations and agencies; examples of best practices; and user feedback.
Partnership for 21st Century Skills - National organization that advocates for 21st century readiness for every
student, providing tools and resources. for educators.
Pen Pal News – Classrooms (grades 5-12) are connected with a partner class, and matched with a pen pal. Students write on six short weekly assignments, then share their thoughts with their pen pal and respond with their own thoughts and ideas.
People to People International’s School and Classroom Program – Connects teachers and their students with similar age classrooms in other countries to facilitate pen pal exchanges.
Primary Source – Connects educators with other cultures and peoples to promote the incorporation of global content into schools and curriculum.
Pulitzer Center - Provides educators with well written articles on topics that are affecting world, as well as lesson plans.
Roots and Shoots – Youth driven community service projects. The organization has a set curriculum for a community service learning project and allows groups to create their own.
Skype – Allows educators and teachers to connect with others in various locations free of charge, similar to phone or video conferencing.
Taking IT Global - Provides opportunities for classrooms to complete a project which focuses on global citizenship, environmental stewardship, and student voice. There are resources for teachers including lesson plans and online professional development opportunities.
World Affairs Council - Provides resources for teachers and professional development opportunities.
World Savvy - Provides resources for teachers, from lesson plans to free online access to WorldSavvy Monitor publication, and has professional development opportunities for teachers.
World Wise Schools – Peace Corp program for schools, offering speakers on global topics, correspondence with a current Peace Corps volunteer, lesson plans, teacher guides, videos and global education links.
World Youth News - a global online news project, managed by iEARN, for secondary school students from around the world. Students report on topics of their choice, write, edit and publish the articles. Any secondary school student can join as a reporter after successfully completing an online training. The articles are free to reprint for classroom use.
